Behind their backs

Kathryn stared into the flames lost in thought. Of all the ways she had pictured life going, this was not one of them. Not that she was complaining; she was, for the most part, happy. The problem was that the man sitting with his arm around her was her former fiancé, Mark, and the couple sitting across from her was Chakotay and Seven.

Kathryn still thought of Chakotay and Seven as a bit of an odd couple and her heart still pained at the thought of the two of them together. It was when Mark first came to see her, telling her how his marriage had not survived, that she finally began to accept the two of them together and move on.

Of course, life rarely goes as planned and Kathryn had quickly learned that the strong love she once felt for Mark was now nothing more than a deep friendship. She didn't like the fact that, in a sense, she was using him, but she had been alone for so long. The goal of being in Chakotay's arms had been the driving force to get her ship home for most of those seven years and now, with that no longer an option, it was nice at least to be in familiar arms again.

Kathryn looked up to see Chakotay sitting with his arms around Seven. Did he look happy? Or contented? Was there a difference? He immediately noticed her looking, catching her stare and holding it as a small smile formed on his lips. She returned the smile, happy to at least have him in her life as a friend.

Kathryn wondered whether he longed for her anymore? Did he still want her? Or had Seven turned out to be everything he wanted in a woman, maybe even more?

Kathryn could feel Mark's arm resting on her back, almost as if he were staking his claim, letting the other two know she was his. Mark knew how Kathryn felt about Chakotay, knew how she loved him. It was one thing that she felt she had to tell him before he asked him to spend the weekend with Chakotay and Seven.  She didn't want any misunderstandings to come forth, despite the fact that she also made it clear that Mark didn't have any claim on her.

Mark, what was she going to do about Mark? She couldn't keep this up for much longer -- that much she knew. Mark needed someone to take care of, someone who would share in the same pleasures he had, the same ideas, the same interests, and that someone certainly wasn't she. Kathryn wondered how they had managed to stay together for ten years before she was stranded in the Delta Quadrant. He didn't seem to have changed any, yet she almost found his philosophical approach to life irritating to say the least.

Kathryn closed her eyes for a moment, imagining what it would be like to be under Chakotay, writhing underneath that golden body, his hard organ thrusting into her at amazing speed. Just how many times had she had this fantasy, always a bit different but the same context every time; she wanted him! She could feel her arousal, her panties getting soaked just at the thought of him, she knew she needed to curb these thoughts but wasn't sure she really wanted to.

A hand on her back broke her trance, "I was thinking about taking a walk. Care to join me?" asked Mark.

"Actually, I think I would much rather sit here," replied Kathryn.

Seven stood up, "If you wouldn't mind, I would prefer to walk for a while."

Mark smiled then looked at Kathryn and Chakotay, "You two don't mind do you? It will give you two time to catch up."

"No, not at all. Take your time," said Chakotay, seeing Kathryn nod along with him.

After they left, there was an awkward silence before Chakotay finally broke it. "Hey, come over here, and let's talk."

Kathryn smiled and moved over to him, settling down on the mat on the ground, leaning back enjoying the warmth of the fire. She let out a small chuckle. "I keep expecting that damn monkey to come jumping out."

Chakotay laughed with her. "He did have a knack for showing up at the oddest times."

"The bathtub," she said. "Scared me to death. Good thing I had you at my disposal."

"Of course you did," he added. "No matter what I had to give up, I would have always been there for you."

"What do you mean? What did you give up?" she asked, turning towards him.

"You, in that towel. What I wouldn't have given to pull it right off you," he said.

Kathryn opened her mouth to say something but found no words would come out. Before she knew what happened, Chakotay's mouth was covering hers, his body pushing hers towards the ground.

Kathryn reached out for him, pulling him so that his body covered hers, her legs wrapping around his, drawing him in close. His tongue pushed past her lips, finding hers, dueling with it while his lower body ground into hers. She broke away from him, looking into his eyes.

Chakotay saw no objection, he just heard her words. "You. Now. I want you now."

He began to move down but felt her grab him. "No preliminaries, Chakotay," She said simply knowing Chakotay would need no further instructions. He sat up, quickly undoing his pants, watching Kathryn ease off her pants, kicking them to the side as she stared at Chakotay unashamed. "Oh, yes," she murmured, reaching up to take his growing member in her hands, stroking it softly, feeling it engorge in her hand.

Chakotay closed his eyes as the sensations washed over him, then finally brushed her hand away, yet stayed on his knees. "Roll over,  Kathryn," he said, a gleam in his eye.

She looked at him puzzled. "Chakotay…"

"Roll over," he ordered. He watched Kathryn slowly roll over.  When she was face down, he grabbed her hips, hoisting her rear end in the air. She moved up on her elbows but felt his hand encouraging her to rest her head on the ground. She did just as she was instructed, always secretly liking this position but never having had the guts to ask Mark to do it. There was something primal about it, exciting, knowing Chakotay would soon have full control over her.

Kathryn could feel his hard member nudge at her wet entrance then slip in; this was what she enjoyed best, the first feel of joining, as her insides stretched to accommodate the welcome intrusion.

"Oh yes, Chakotay," she groaned as he slipped in the rest of the way. She reached back, grabbing his balls as they rested against her bottom, teasing and manipulating them with her palm.

Kathryn than felt his hand on hers as he guided her to her own throbbing center. "Take care of yourself, Kathryn, and hang on," he said before he began to thrust, slowly at first, in and out as if he was relishing in the feeling. He soon picked up the pace, mumbling incoherently as he furiously pounded in her.

Kathryn continued to stroke herself, feeling the oncoming orgasm approach, wanting it so badly, trying to keep up with Chakotay, and still keep up with herself. It soon exploded, her clenching walls taking Chakotay with her.

Chakotay pulled out of her, his organ now flaccid. "Well, that was unexpected," he said, not sounding at all disappointed.

Kathryn still had her head resting on the mat, not caring at the moment how undignified she may look. "Unexpected, but oh so enjoyable.'

He playfully smacked her bottom. "That's an understatement. Come on, let's get cleaned up before we get caught."

She sat up, leaning back on her heals. Chakotay leaned his head over her shoulder, turning her to face him. "No regrets, Chakotay," Kathryn stated before placing a gentle kiss on his lips.

"None," he said, returning the kiss.

By time Mark and Seven returned, Kathryn and Chakotay were already busy getting dinner ready. "I'll have you know I intended this entire meal to be cooked over an open fire."

Kathryn laughed, "Your good intentions won't go unnoticed," said Kathryn, patting Chakotay on the arm. "So, did you two have a nice walk? "

Mark approached her, kissing her on the cheek." Yes, this place has some beautiful trails. Seven and I were saying we would like to take a walk in the morning. It would be quite refreshing."

Chakotay smiled up at them. "It sure sounds like it would be but count me out."

"Will you be joining us?" asked Seven.

Kathryn shrugged; images of what she and Chakotay could be doing came to mind.  A brief thought of guilt flashed through her but it was quickly replaced by desire; desire for a man that should have been hers in the first place.

Mark chuckled. "These two can sit around here all they want; we'll enjoy the scenery for the both of them."

Kathryn grinned down at Chakotay, "What's the matter? Did I tire you out?"

He reached up for her, pulling her down so they were face to face, "Woman, you have no idea."

She kept her face right next to him, yet didn't give him the satisfaction of her lips, "What? Doesn't Seven do…"

"No, before you even finish, no," he said.

She attempted to rise but found his hands firmly placed on her waist. "I want to stay inside you," he mumbled.

"But they could be back any minute, Chakotay; we have to get cleaned up," she said.

He groaned then nodded, knowing she was right. He reached for the swimsuits they had carefully laid out to throw on afterwards; a good swim would wash away any evidence of their joining. They both quickly dressed then ran for the lake, betting who would reach it first.

Their timing had been perfect, for as they both splashed into the lake, Seven and Mark emerged from the woods.

Kathryn knew she should feel guilty; she should feel as if she had betrayed Mark and Seven, but she couldn't muster even the tiniest piece of guilt. The trip was over; they were having one last campfire before heading on home. She and Chakotay hadn't yet discussed what they should do about all that had happened or even if they should do anything. There was never any time to discuss it privately. Any private time they had, they did not spend talking.

Kathryn didn't think the unsuspecting two had figured anything out yet, but then again, maybe they had. Kathryn and Chakotay had plenty of time to be alone, considering Mark and Seven had gone on at least seven walks by themselves; at least it was nice to know they could be friends.

The fire had been started and Chakotay was calling her, letting her know they would begin dinner. Funny, Seven had taken the spot right next to Mark, sitting close, practically leaning on him. Kathryn dismissed it, taking the spot next to Chakotay.

Mark cleared his throat. "Umm, Seven and I have something we need to tell you."

Kathryn smiled at him, "What is it, honey?" Did she look loving enough?

Mark seemed to cringe at her words, "Oh shit, I guess I … we should just come out and say it. WE didn't expect it, we weren't really looking for it but…"

"Just say it, Mark, you of all people should not be at a loss for words, " said Kathryn.

"Seven and I have become lovers," he blurted out. "Oh shit, I didn't mean…I'm so sorry, Kathryn."

Kathryn did her best to keep a straight face but lost the battle quickly. She burst out laughing at the irony of it all, grabbing hold of Chakotay to keep from falling over, hearing him laugh along with her.

Mark looked at the two of them, completely baffled at the reaction he got, "what's so funny?" he asked, shouldn't they be ready to kill him rather than laugh?

Kathryn took a deep breath trying to control the laughter than spoke,  "You mean, all this time, Chakotay and I have been sneaking behind your back and you were running off to sneak behind our backs. Oh god, we are idiots!"

Mark continued to stare at them, "your serious."

Seven sat up straight, "Chakotay, you have been intimate with Kathryn?"

"Umm, yeah, you could say that," he admitted, not really knowing what else to say.

"I see," said Seven, stoically.

"I didn't mean to hurt you, Seven," he started but she cut him off.

"I am not hurt. I feel that we were not suited as a couple. I found our time together enjoyable, but I feel Mark is much better suited to my … tastes," she explained.

"I couldn't agree more," said Kathryn, smiling despite Mark's shocked expression. "Come on, Mark. I will always love you but you have to admit we grew apart during the last seven years. Even Seven thinks you and she are better suited."

Mark put his arm on Seven's back, "Chakotay, I still feel bad, Kathryn, I cheated on you, this is unforgivable. But I also can't help the feelings I am finding I have for Seven."

Chakotay smiled at Mark, "Nothing to worry about, really. I can't explain this, I have never been one to do… this, but … I love Kathryn, plain and simple. I care for Seven but to be honest, love never came in the picture."

"I believe I still have a lot to learn about love but I do have to agree, although I am comfortable with you, what I would call love has never been in the picture. You are meant to be with Kathryn, perhaps I am meant to be with Mark," said Seven.

"I like that Seven, you said it exactly," said Kathryn. "I hope what we get out of this is years of happiness and two very close friends."

"Of course Kathryn, I know that we have drifted apart but I also know I want you in my life. You’re my friend Kathryn, now and forever." Mark smiled back at her then took a slightly more serious tone. "Where do we go from here?"

"I think we should just go home," said Kathryn. "Seven with you and Chakotay with me."
