Reset- Finding Your Destiny
by Sheri

Kathryn woke up, sweat pouring, her heart beating a mile a minute.

"Hey, Kath, are you all right?" asked Mark.

"I just had the strangest dream, " she commented, still s little sleepy.

"What was it about?" he asked, puling her into his arms.

"Well,… I was a captain, of a starship lost in the Delta Quadrant."

"Lost, sounds interesting," said Mark.

"Yeah, it was so real. We were out there for Seven years, confronted the Borg, I was even assimilated. God, it's…"

"Hey, its ok, it was just a dream," he didn't like seeing Kathryn get upset, it was so unlike her.

"I know, I just don’t think I've ever experienced anything like that before."

Mark began to nuzzle her neck, "here let me take your mind off of it."

"Oh, that feels wonderful, but Mark, I have to get up and get ready for work."

Mark sat up on his elbows, "Kathryn can't you spare a little time?"

"I'm sorry honey, I have an early meeting with Admiral Paris," She answered, extracting herself from his arms.

Mark watched her leave, and couldn’t help the foreboding feeling coming over him.

"Admiral, you wanted to see me?" said Kathryn, walking into the room.

"Yes Commander Janeway, come in and have a seat. We have a few things to talk about here," answered the Admiral.

"Is there a problem sir?" she asked, as she took her seat.

"Problem, no, I wouldn't say that."

"Then what is it Sir?"

"Well Kathryn," he started, pulling out a small box, "we're giving you a ship."

"A ship? Does that mean…?"

"Yes … Captain Janeway, it sure does. Congratulations."

Kathryn couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear, she had worked hard for this moment, "Sir, thank you." The door chime interrupted her.

"Ahh, that would probably be your new First Officer. Come in."

The door opened to admit the new First Officer, Kathryn stood to greet him, and nearly fell over. "I'm not late, am I sir?" asked Chakotay.

"Not at all Commander, I was just about to tell your Captain about you, take a seat."

"Thank you sir," answered Chakotay.

Kathryn couldn't take her eyes off of him, it was him, the man from her dream. Oh god, those dimples. Here, in this room, she was facing her destiny, the road she would travel would be different from everything she has ever known.

"Nice to meet you Commander Chakotay. I have a feeling we'll get along just fine."

"Thank you Captain, you will always be able to count on me."

"I don't doubt that for a minute," she answered, oh yes, she was definitely in trouble.
