Summary: This is an episode addition for "Worst Case Scenario" (season 3). Janeway decides to review Tuvok’s holodeck program for herself, with perhaps an ulterior motive.
This is the "flip side" to my story "Best Case Scenario" (from which I stole the first two paragraphs). It’s not a sequel or prequel, actually the two stories are mutually exclusive – that is, if one happened the other couldn’t.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"With all due respect, Tuvok…loosen up," said Captain Janeway with a smile. "You may have intended this program to be a tactical training tool, but it seems to me to have turned into a bit of harmless fun."
The senior staff was debating the merits of Tuvok’s holodeck program, "Insurrection Alpha," which he had begun writing shortly after Chakotay and his Maquis crew had joined Voyager after the destruction of the Caretaker’s array – the incident that had stranded them all in the Delta Quadrant. Tuvok thought he had deleted it, unfinished, once he determined that the threat of a Maquis mutiny was in fact minimal, but Lt. Torres had uncovered it while purging the database. She, and over 30 other crew members, had tried it out and judged the mock mutiny to be completely compelling.
"But I can understand your concerns," she continued. "Perhaps I should review the program for myself and make the final call as to whether we should keep it and finish it."
"I will defer to your judgement, Captain," Tuvok intoned.
"If there is nothing else, this meeting is adjourned," the captain pronounced, and everyone filed out of the room.
Janeway took her place on the bridge, a hint of a smile on her face. She had heard enough about this faux mutiny to suspect she would find it enormously entertaining. *Chakotay in Maquis leather again, be still my beating heart!* she thought to herself. In fact, she planned to use this opportunity to full advantage to indulge her obsession with Chakotay without compromising the status quo that she felt duty-bound to uphold.
A little guiltily, she noted that while she was strictly observing one aspect of proctocol, she did intend to run roughshod over another. Namely, one was not supposed to use holo-characters of real people, especially crew members, and most especially for romantic purposes. There were approved exceptions, but what she had in mind clearly wouldn’t be one of them. But the hell with it. She had been resisting him for three years, even during the ultimate temptation, New Earth. It was either the holo-Chakotay or the real one, and it was obvious to her which was the greater breach of protocol.
Contrary to her usual habit, she readily left the bridge as soon as Alpha shift ended. Chakotay rode the turbo lift with her down to Deck 3.
"Looking forward to your mutiny, Captain?" he said with a broad smile.
"Yes, I am. I just hope I don’t lose track of which side I’m on," she grinned.
"Oh, you can be on any side you want. But I’ve been told it’s much more fun if you ally yourself with that scoundrel Chakotay." He laughed, revealing his endearing dimples. *Hmmm, hope they got the dimples right in the holographic version,* Janeway mused to herself.
"Yes, that’s what I’ve heard too. Janeway is such a prig," she joked as they stepped off the turbo lift and walked down the corridor to their respective quarters.
"Have fun…but not too much fun," Chakotay quipped as stopped at his door, leaving her to continue on to her own quarters.
"Right," she called back over her shoulder. *Wrong – I intend to have WAY too much fun.*

At her reserved time, she arrived at Holodeck 2 already dressed in the uniform of the junior security officer she would play in the scenario. She activated the program and stepped inside the holodeck. "Initiate privacy lock, authorization Janeway pi-three," she stated.
She started down the corridor of the holo-Voyager. Her heart skipped a beat when the holo-Chakotay appeared at her side.
"Where’re you headed?" he asked.
"The bridge," she replied.
"Mind if I walk with you?" he said.
"Not at all." She smiled warmly at him.
"So how’s it going? Tuvok still giving you a hard time?"
"Not really. I’ve gotten used to him, I guess." She was non-committal.
"I don’t know about you, but when I think about spending 70 years on the same ship with that guy it gives me a headache. I get the impression a lot of the crew agrees with me – Maquis and Starfleet."
They stepped onto the turbo lift. "Bridge." Chakotay continued. "For that matter, I don’t think Captain Janeway is winning any popularity contests either. Don’t you agree?" He regarded her cautiously, one eyebrow raised.
"Why Commander," she said coyly, "wouldn’t it be a breach of protocol for me to convey any negative feelings about our "dear" captain?" She stepped a little closer to him and looked straight into his eyes, a hint of a devious smile on her face.
"Starfleet protocol?" He practically spat out the words. "Yes, I suppose it is. But I don’t give a damn about Starfleet protocol. I want to know what you think."
"Why?" she replied coolly, still looking him right in the eye.
"Because you’re a good officer. I like you," he said in a sexy, low voice. "Halt turbo lift." He turned so that they faced each other squarely. "And I wouldn’t want to see you get hurt. There are going to be some changes around here. And I need to know where you stand."
Janeway found his proximity terrifically exciting. *Damn,* she thought, *it’s a good thing he never really tried a mutiny. He would have had every woman on this ship lined up behind him.*
Time to show her hand. She smiled her most alluring smile and moved another step closer to him. With a seductive timbre in her voice she said, "Commander, it would be my greatest pleasure to serve under you in whatever capacity you desire." Her demeanor, and her subtle emphasis of the word "under," made it clear that the double meaning was no accident. "Whatever ‘changes’ you have in mind, I’m with you."
He returned her sensual smile and nodded his head almost imperceptibly; at the same time his eyes swept over her as if evaluating what he had just gained. "I’m gratified to hear that, Ensign. I’ll be needing a personal assistant. Frankly I don’t understand why Janeway doesn’t have one. You might be just the right person for the job. Now here’s what you can do to earn my trust…" He went on to explain her part in the mutiny plan.
The mutiny went smoothly and soon the Maquis were in charge of the holo-ship. Chakotay kept Janeway by his side as they rounded up the Starfleet crew, searched for saboteurs, and finally as holo-Janeway’s shuttle appeared on their viewscreen. She observed a certain gleam in Chakotay’s eyes as he tried to reason with the captain, a moment of what looked like real pain when he blew her shuttle to bits, and clear admiration and relief when he realized she had beamed on board. Fascinating. Even this hologram had obvious feelings for her, despite the fact he was doing his damnedest to take her ship.
"They’re trying to free the prisoners!" Seska yelled.
"You’re with me," Chakotay barked at Janeway as he dashed toward the turbo lift. They hurried to the brig area; Chakotay motioned for her to conceal herself just outside the door. "Computer, prepare to erect force field at entrance to brig on my mark." He triggered the door, tossed in a small gas cylinder, and yelled "mark!" The force field buzzed in place. Beyond it, the cylinder released its contents.
Janeway looked at him questioningly. "Anesthezine gas," he smiled. "They won’t be giving us any more trouble." All the holo characters in the brig were soon asleep on the floor. They vented the gas and added the captain and Paris to the group in the cell. Another Maquis crew member came to replace the guard.
"Call me when Janeway wakes up," Chakotay ordered.
"Yes, sir."
/*\
Chakotay and the real Janeway returned to the bridge. It wasn’t long before the brig guard called to report that the captain was awake.
"Come on, Ensign. I need to have a talk with Janeway." They returned to the brig.
Chakotay walked up to the cell. "Hello, Kathryn. I’d like to have a little chat with you." He smiled ironically.
"I have nothing to say to you, Chakotay."
He indicated to the guard to drop the force field, as he, the guard, and Janeway trained their phasers on the cell’s occupants. Chakotay motioned with his phaser for the captain to step out of the cell. She eyed him coldly but complied. The force field was turned back on.
He led the captain to an adjacent interrogation room. He gestured for Janeway to enter the room’s observation chamber, a small area containing a large one-way mirror looking into the interrogation room. From here, Janeway could see and hear everything that went on in the larger room. To her surprise, Chakotay handed her his phaser. "Keep a close eye on Janeway," he said before following the captain into the interrogation room and closing the door behind him.
The captain was standing near the wall, hands on hips, a look of utter defiance on her face. Janeway almost laughed out loud – it was so quintessentially her. She wondered if Tuvok had programmed it or if it had just flowed logically from the personality assessment in her Starfleet records, which was undoubtedly what Tuvok had used to create the character.
"What do you want, Chakotay? I told you I have nothing to say to you," the captain snapped.
He walked over to her. "Actually, Kathryn, I don’t really have anything to say to you, either. There’s just something I need to do before I say goodbye to you forever."
With that, he grasped both her wrists and forced them behind her back, simultaneously pushing her body with his own until she was trapped against the wall. He moved both her wrists to one of his large, powerful hands, then moved his other hand up to her hair. He pulled the pins out until her thick red tresses fell all around her face and shoulders. Seizing a hank of it, he tugged until her face was forced upwards, then he lowered his mouth to hers and kissed her passionately. She struggled and squirmed, but to no avail. He forced his muscular thigh between her legs and began rotating against her.
In the observation chamber, Janeway’s eyes flew open wide and her mouth dropped. Watching Chakotay’s bold advances on her counterpart had a very definite and immediate impact on her; she could feel her intimate area swelling with blood and beginning to throb. Gods. She wanted to be the one in that room. She was so ready to seduce this hologram, or be seduced by him.
Chakotay soon broke his grip on the captain and stepped back quickly from her to avoid her inevitable attempt to punch him.
"You bastard! When I get this ship back I’m going to shove you out an airlock!" she screamed.
"Temper, temper, Kathryn. I don’t think that’s Starfleet protocol, now is it? You’re terribly optimistic, anyway. I don’t think there’s a snowball’s chance in Hades you’ll get this ship back." He was silent a minute while the captain fumed. "You know, Kathryn, it’s really a shame. We could have been so good together. I would have followed you to hell and back if you had just given me a little of what I gave to you." He shook his head.
He walked back to the door, opened it, and retrieved his phaser from the shell-shocked Janeway. They returned the captain to the brig and walked down the corridor to the turbo lift.
"Bridge," barked Chakotay. The lift began to move.
*Alright, Janeway, this is your chance. Take it while you can,* she pep-talked herself. What did she have to lose, anyway? She couldn’t humiliate herself with a hologram. If she went down in flames, she could just back up a scene and try another approach.
She stepped closer to Chakotay. Lord, he was so much sexier in that Maquis outfit. Her lust grew and fueled her tongue.
"Commander?" she said in a throaty voice.
"Yes, Ensign?" he answered with mild amusement, his eyes issuing a challenge, as if the hologram was aware that she was about to make a pass at him.
She gazed into his eyes with what she hoped was a sultry look and said, "I just wanted to say that Janeway was a fool for resisting you all these months. And…I hope that someday you’ll want to kiss me with the same passion you kissed her."
Chakotay smiled broadly, his dimples lighting up his handsome face. "Halt turbo lift." He closed the short distance between them and brushed her cheek with his thumb. "Is now soon enough?"
Her breath caught and she answered with difficulty. "No… but I guess it will have to do." Her heart pounded. Gods, he was just a hologram, but he was real enough. Real enough to make her senseless just by standing there before her.
"Be careful what you ask for," he whispered as his lips descended on hers. He wrapped one hand around the back of her neck, massaging one of her most sensitive areas, and the other around her waist, pulling her to him firmly.
Oooohhhh, it felt so good, it felt so real. She wrapped her arms around his muscular body. She reveled in it; this interlude was as close as she could let herself get to her heart’s desire, at least until they returned safely home to the Alpha quadrant. It felt so good to have his strong arms around her. He kissed her deeply, sensually running his tongue all along her lips, her teeth, all over her mouth. Wet, alive, passionate, more real than any holo-kiss she’d ever experienced.
More real. More real… too real! Finally alarm bells went off in her head and she pulled back abruptly from his warm embrace, staring at him with a mixture of trepidation and disbelief. "Computer, delete character Chakotay."
"Unable to comply. The character Chakotay is not active."
He smiled and shrugged. "Busted," he said simply.
Janeway’s mouth dropped open and she stared at him in shock. "Chakotay! How did you…what the hell do you think you are doing?" she exclaimed, mortified and a little angry.
"I could ask you the same thing. Isn’t it strictly against protocol to become physically involved with a hologram based on a real person unless you have their permission?" he inquired with amusement.
She opened her mouth to answer, but found that she didn’t know what to say. Chakotay leaned close to her and took her chin in his hand.
"You don’t really have to answer that. You can do whatever you want with my hologram. But I’d much rather you do it with me. I think you’ll find the real thing to be infinitely more satisfying." He moved his hand back into her hair, caressing her neck, and put his other hand on her shoulder.
Mesmerizing her with his seductive, sonorous voice, he continued. "This is the holodeck. It’s not real. You can do whatever you want, you can be whoever you want, you can be with whomever you want. You’re not Kathryn Janeway; you’re a young ensign who is attracted to the Maquis captain and you’ve just made a big pass at him. Finish the scene – forget the world out there for a while. It doesn’t exist. There’s only you and me. No protocol. Only a man and a woman who want each other desperately. Don’t think," he whispered, "just feel."" He lowered his mouth to hers and kissed her with an intensity that took her breath away.
Janeway melted into his arms and returned his kiss with equal intensity. She couldn’t fight him anymore; he’d caught her with her guard down and she could no longer resist him.
"Computer, change setting to captain’s quarters. Delete all holographic characters," Chakotay commanded when they broke the kiss. The turbo lift disappeared and they were standing in the doorway to the captain’s bedroom, the bed a mere five feet away. He continued breaking down her barriers. "We can do whatever we want in here. Out there, nothing changes. This never happened. We can live this fantasy just this once, or come back whenever we want. It’s your call." He gazed at her intently, his deep brown eyes holding her captive.
She said nothing, but her hands moved to push and pull at his clothing. Now that he had laid her defenses bare, she was desperate to feel his naked skin next to hers. He joined her frenzy and in moments they were fully revealed to one another, her pale white skin starkly contrasted against his bronze glow.
He backed into the bedroom, taking her with him, pulling her down on top of him as he fell onto the bed. She wanted to touch him everywhere at once. She ran her hands eagerly over his smooth golden skin; hungrily she began kissing and nipping his neck, his shoulders, down to his tiny erect nipples; he groaned when she took one between her teeth. She moved back up to his face and kissed him deeply.
He was becoming harder and harder underneath her, his length pressing into her belly like a thick iron bar. She shifted until her folds opened around him and she began to undulate against him. The sensation sent a sexual blush across her body and up into her face. With further arousal she could no longer concentrate on the kiss; she arched her back and lifted her head into empty space, her eyes closed, lips parted, breath coming in sharp gasps, a look of utter erotic rapture on her face.
That look alone could easily have triggered Chakotay’s release, but he fought the urge and forced himself to focus on her pleasure. His large hands were on her rear, pulling with her to exaggerate her motions and move her even more forcefully against his hard cock. Then abruptly he pushed hard against her thighs, moving her off target and interrupting the rhythm. Her eyes flew open in frustration, but he only smiled. "Let it build, Kathryn. Good things come to those who wait." After a few seconds he resumed their motions and Janeway gasped at how the brief cessation had escalated the sensation.
*Gods, how did he know that…* was the only conscious thought she had before fully riveting her attention back on her body and the feelings coursing through it.
Once more Chakotay forced a pause, and after starting again he sensed that she was nearing the edge. He moved one hand to her breast and cupped it, firmly grasping the hard nipple and rolling it between his thumb and forefinger.
Janeway began to pull in great gulps of air; her mouth opened fully and she moaned loudly as her body jolted erratically for several seconds. She collapsed on top of Chakotay as a long "ooohhhhhhhh" escaped from her lips.
He gently stroked her back and arms as she recovered. "Gods, that was intense," she murmured in his ear.
"I’m glad you thought so," he grinned with his full-dimpled smile – the smile that Janeway thought could practically bring her to orgasm all by itself.
"I have no bones anymore," she sighed, feeling remarkably like a bowl of Neelix’s Alterian gelatin. Chakotay chuckled, and the rumble sent a delicious sensation through her body. "But it’s your turn." She started to shift.
He pulled his arms more tightly around her, slowing her movement. "I can wait. I waited this long, I can wait another 10 minutes. Or 10 hours. Whatever it takes."
"Well, I can’t! I want to find out what it feels like to have this steel rod embedded in me," she said as she nudged herself against him. She rolled off of him, onto her back, and pierced him with a intent gaze. "Make love to me, Chakotay. I’ve been waiting for you all my life."
No further invitation was needed. He rose up on his knees and positioned himself between her welcoming legs. He thrust tentatively at first, not wanting to hurt her, but soon found that her well-lubricated body yielded without difficulty.
With the mood set by her afterglow, Janeway felt an overwhelming sense of peace as Chakotay filled her. It felt so right, like she was where she belonged. She did not feel arousal building, but she didn’t expect to. She had never climaxed without clitoral stimulation, but she had a feeling that Chakotay would eventually surpass that barrier as well. But for now – she only wanted to focus on him. She began to clench and release her vaginal muscles in rhythm with his thrusts, and was rewarded with a groan of pleasure and a look of bliss on his face.
"Gods, Kathryn, how do you do that?" he panted, breathing more heavily with each thrust. "You feel so exquisite…I can’t hold on much longer."
"Don’t, my love. Let it come," she urged, and soon she could feel his cock pulsate as he climaxed inside her.
They shifted to their sides so he would not crush her, his semi-erect member still nestled within her warm embrace. *Don’t think, just feel,* was her only thought. Feel. It felt…perfect. Right. Heavenly. As though they were the only two people in the universe. She closed her eyes; her mind floated above them and looked down on them, absorbing the serenity and harmony of this moment.
Chakotay gazed with devotion at his lover’s face, taking in her beatific smile, wondering when it would all pop like a bubble and the captain’s mask would return. Just at that moment Janeway opened her eyes and caught the flicker of sadness that flashed across Chakotay’s face.
"What?" she said, concerned.
"It’s nothing." He smiled again.
"You can run but you can’t hide. I can read you like a book, Chakotay. What’s wrong?" She propped herself up on her elbow and began tracing his jaw with her finger.
"Nothing’s wrong. This moment is perfect." He searched her face.
"This moment is perfect. You’re worried about the next moment, aren’t you? Afraid I’m going to pull the rug out from under you when I start thinking again instead of feeling?" She gave him her lopsided smile. "I don’t think so, Chakotay. This feels too perfect to give up. I’ll just have to learn to think and feel at the same time. Or learn to think when it’s time to think, and feel when it’s time to feel."
Chakotay smiled broadly. "And how do you feel now?"
"Like all is right with the universe. Like if I were any happier I would explode. Like…I’m in love with you, Chakotay. I’m so in love with you it feels like I’ve never been in love before."
He pulled her into a tight embrace. "That’s how I feel, too, Kathryn. I never really knew what love was until I met you. I never want to let you go."

They would have been content to lay in one another’s arms all the way back to the Alpha Quadrant, but all too soon the computer warned them that they had only five minutes of holodeck time remaining. Hurriedly they dressed.
"That was a hell of a mutiny, you Maquis devil you," she teased as they walked out of the holodeck and down the deserted corridor. "I guess you were in the holodeck before I even activated the program, that’s how you overrode my lock." He nodded. "’Fess up. Did you plan it the way it turned out, or did it just happen?"
Chakotay grinned and tugged on his ear as they stepped onto the empty turbo lift. "Well…I have to say I don’t think it could have turned out better if I had planned it. I really just intended to go along for the ride with you, Kathryn. I didn’t know you were going to find the Maquis rebel so irresistible. Damn, if I’d known that I would have put on my old Maquis clothes and mutinied a long time ago!"
Janeway gave him a reproachful look and swung a mock punch at his jaw.
He continued. "But I stuck with Tuvok’s scenario until the scene where we captured the holo-Janeway – in his, she and I both get shot – and then the scene in the interrogation room. That was all mine. I just wanted to give you a taste of what your rebel is capable of when he lets his passions run free." He bent over her and caressed her chin. "Lucky for me, you were ready to let your passions run free as well. I had no idea you were going to be so bold. I’m just glad you didn’t throw me in the real brig when you realized I wasn’t a hologram."
"What, and have you get back at me by telling everyone
that I was trying to seduce your hologram? No thanks!" she laughed. "Come
on, Chakotay," she said as they stepped off the lift into the Deck 3 corridor.
"Let’s go have dinner in my quarters and plan the rest of our lives together."
The End
